Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week, Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th. Your conference confirmation should be in your child’s Thursday folder. We strongly recommend all families to attend conferences. If you are unable to come to the school, you can schedule a telephone conference with your child’s teacher. Call the office at 432-7396 for any questions or information regarding conferences.

Afternoon Pickup
We understand the challenge in picking up your children during the afternoon from school. If you have any change in carpool arrangements, you must call the office before 2:45 p.m. Otherwise, we will not release your child to another driver. We want to ensure the safety of your children.

The concert went well last night, and those in attendance enjoyed the performance by the second through fifth grade class led by Mrs. Roth. Good news!
The Freedom School Board unanimously voted to have a sixth grade for the 2006/2007 school year. It is our hope to have a sixth grade class with twelve students. We know having sixth grade will be a welcome addition to our school. However we do know that extending our program is also an extension of our faith in the Lord to provide the necessary people and resources to start this classroom. As we move towards building sixth grade, I would covet your prayers in the following areas:

1. That we would prayerfully consider the development of the scope and sequence for sixth grade.
2. The Lord would provide a teacher for this grade.

Thank you, and be looking for more information regarding this change.

It is that time of the year . . .
We have had a number of students out sick with flu like symptoms this week.  Here is a reminder regarding illness from our 2005-2006 Parent/Student Handbook.

Illness

We share your concern for your child’s health and for the health of others.  Keeping this in mind, we recommend the following:

  1. If your child appears sick to you, then please keep him/her at home!  When any child attends school feeling poorly, it is hard on his health, and it exposes others to illness.  Poor health also adversely affects the child’s ability to learn.
  2. If your child has a stomach ache which lasts longer than 4 hours, they should be kept home for the remainder of the day.  If vomiting, diarrhea, and/or fever occur, keep your child home until they are free from symptoms and fever for 24 hours
  3. A cold presents the most frequent problem to parents.  A child with a heavy cold and productive cough belongs at home, even though there is no fever.  If there is a suspicious rash, or if white spots are seen in the back of the throat and/or swollen glands are present keep the child home.
  4. Do call the school office between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. if your child will not be attending school.  Notification of contagious illness is both expected and appreciated.
  5. If your child becomes ill during the day, he/she may be excused to go home.  A parent or authorized person will be notified to arrange care.
  6. Please remember that in the event of an accident, school personnel can give emergency care only.  Parents are responsible for any additional care needed.
Please be sure your child has fully recovered before returning the child to the classroom.  If your child is well enough to do some school work while recovering at home, please contact the school office for homework assignments by 9:00 a.m. or send a note to the child’s teacher.  You may pick up homework at school or you may arrange to have it sent home in your carpool.

Afternoon Carpool Changes
Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the traffic flow during afternoon carpool. We understand that many of you are under time constraints and wish to pick up your child/children in a timely manner, thus we are working hard to ensure you are able to pick up children as efficiently as possible. As a reminder, we are asking all drivers to pull through the drive way. We have two staff members radioing teachers inside who will then send children directly to you. Please do not get out of your vehicles. If you wish to meet your child at the door, we do ask that you park either in the upper north or south parking lots.

This change is the first of two major changes to take place in afternoon carpool. In the next two weeks, we will ask ALL drivers to display cards either in windshields or by hand that enables staff to determine who has permission to pick up children. Please look for these cards in Thursday folders within the next two weeks.

October Tuition
Please send your October TFS tuition directly to The Freedom School no later than October 15th. We are still in the process of enrolling all families to SMART tuition management. If you have not filled out paper work regarding SMART or have not finalized financial aid agreements, please contact the either by phone 314-432-7396 or by email: freedomschool@sbcglobal.net.

Field Trips
Field trips are a fantastic way for parents to connect with classroom teachers and other parents, and teachers welcome assistance from parents. If you wish to chaperone a field trip, be sure to notify teachers in advance either by writing or through the provided permission slip that you wish to chaperone. In this way, teachers will be able to make appropriate transportation and chaperone assignments.

Parent Buzz Book
We are in the process of compiling an address and phone book of all TFS students and families for TFS families. If you DO NOT wish to be listed in the buzz book, please either call the office or email us
